FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
Mechanoid Press Accounces 2022 Anthology Slate
Atlanta, GA: Today, Mechanoid Press, a small indie publisher specializing in science fiction and pulp adventure, announced a slate of anthologies for 2022.
The first anthology is entitled Sharp of Tooth and Dark of Claw: Operation Cryptid. The book is the brainchild of pulp writer Sean Taylor, who will also edit. In this twist on Mechanoid Press’s Monster Earth series, soldiers take control of cloned cryptids to make the world safe for democracy. Tales will include such famous cryptids as the Jersey Devil, Skunk Ape, Mothman, the Chupacabra and more, and is slated for a summer 2022 release.
What sets this anthology apart is that the writers are donating their stories and the proceeds will go to help American veterans who served in Afghanistan. Jeffrey Ray Hayes, of Plasmafire Graphics, will provide the cover.
The book has 9-12 slots for stories between 5 thousand and 7 thousand words in length. The story bible is available here. Stories may be submitted in standard manuscript format to Sean Taylor here: staylor104@aol.com. The submission deadline is March 1st, 2022.
If that wasn’t enough, Mechanoid Press is launching another anthology with a monster theme. League of Monsters will feature a team-up of the world’s classic monsters as they battle various occult threats. It will be edited by Mechanoid Press publisher James Palmer and is scheduled for an October 2022 release, just in time for Halloween. Multiple Rondo Award-winning artist Mark Maddox, who is no stranger to classic monsters, will provide the cover art.
In this book, Moira Harker, great-great-granddaughter of Jonathan and Mina Harker, has gathered the world’s monsters together to stop a remnant Nazi cell called the Last Reich from destroying the world. The team includes Count Dracula (of course), Frankenstein’s Monster, a reluctant wolfman, and a gill creature and his beautiful telepathic handler. This unlikely team will travel the world battling various occult menaces, from golems to warlocks, all while struggling with their own (often quite literal) demons. This anthology is invite-only.
